Last week I pulled up the rest of my onions. I have yellow and white. Next year I plan on having red and maybe a sweet like vidalia.
Last week I also planted this Bok Choi. It has come up...but it looks a little worse for wear.
Looking just to the left of the hose, you can see my cucumbers are up. It got pretty cold Saturday night. Hopefully it will get me one more batch of cucumbers. I plan on 'tenting' these with some heavy plastic. That is why I planted them by the fence.
My red leaf lettuce is ready to pick. I have been eating it out of the garden for days now. I think it is what we will have for dinner tonight.
Yesterday, I found a bunch of 'starts'. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, cauliflower, and kale. Today they are all in my garden.
This is where the onions were. Now it is kale and Brussels sprouts.
As a parting shot...the sedem are fading fast. It makes me sad to see them go. Being that we have just past the Autumnal Equinox, the nights will be longer than the days, now. So this transition to cooler weather and longer nights makes me sad too.
I am better prepared this year, because now I officially have a Winter garden going. In the Spring, it will be easier to plant, because of all the work I did this year. I will also have a cold frame/greenhouse of sorts to start plants and another garden area prepped and fenced properly. So...almost double the space.
I will be trying a new technique...or a variation on what I have been doing. Hopefully it will save on water.
