I have pulled up all my squash. They had aphids.
I planted more seeds last week. They are starting to come up.
I also bought this zucchini plant last week to get a jump up on the next batch of zucchini.
My tomato plants are not doing very well either.
Here are beets I planted last week, also.
I have been fighting like crazy this year to get a good batch of cucumbers. Here is my first Straight Eight cucumber. Is only about 4 inches right now...not eight.
I also started seeds in these peat pots. Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, cauliflower. The Brassicas. Only a few have sprouted.
I believe these are collard greens. Soon to be wonderful.
I have also been tying the plastic netting around the base of this metal fence to keep the rabbits from getting in so easy. Last year my fence was very short.
The holes were small so the rabbits couldn't get through...but the dogs could jump right over. THAT is why I put up new fencing. I am still working on this garden fence.
I am still working on the aphids that have invaded my garden. I get up real early (before the Sun) because I want to spray them with some Neem oil, water, and a little dish soap. I don't want to spray while the bees are doing their job.
The Neem oil attacks the bug's nervous system. I spray the plants, the spray dries. The bug eats the plant and it dies because it forgets to eat and reproduce. It doesn't hurt the bugs who DON'T eat the plant. I like that!
Let's hope I can kill those little buggers before they kill my plants. At least I am getting closer to finishing off the fencing so the plants will be safe.
