I went out this morning to survey the needs of my yard, and I scared my falcon off.    He flew up in our dead tree.  That's when I ran back in the house to get my camera and zoom lens.  I had a hard time getting this in focus...as you can see.

I call him 'mine' because he seems to be living around here...and stopping by my yard pretty regular.

Is it the water, or the vast quantity of smaller birds to prey on?  Or...both?  I have to say, I have never seen him catch anything.

Plus, I am pleased, and strangely comforted that he is here.  Every time I see him, it makes me wonder why he shows himself to me?  I could easily miss his short-lived trips to my yard.

And...how do I know it is a male?  (I have lots of questions.)

It seems to make me happy...so...what else matters?

Blessings to all.
