Pictures from the yard 04/13/2011
Yesterday I found out that April is the month for being 'Green'. So I took a bunch of pictures of my green stuff. This is a picture of my peas. They are full of blooms. On closer inspection, I found this. Sorry it is out of focus. I am just glad it lives there, because... ...these aphids live here. Nasty! So...I started to take pictures of other green things in my yard. This is an old Christmas tree. I am amazed by all the pine cones on there this year. Then, there are these. This bright shot of color. Did you know that you can't grow tulips and Iris in the same bed? One puts out an enzyme that stops them from growing...or something like that. I don't know where I learned that...but I just tried looking for the info on Wikipedia and am still looking. I may have to dig out my books to see. I would guess it is in the Sunset Western Garden book. The Lad's Dad and I called it the Bible for the garden. My red leaf lettuce is ready to eat. Salad for dinner tonight. Actually...I am going to be in my kitchen all day today. I have bread to make and jam/jelly to can. A friend is coming over to learn how to make the jam. I just LOVE teaching someone how easy canning is to do. Another convert. As I look around I can see all the work I have to do. Weeds...crap. Then again...some of them are pretty. They are just everywhere. It is no wonder I feel a little stressed. Maybe I can get The Lad to help. Now THAT would be a story! (Just kidding.) ******************************************************************************* Add Comment |
