Another Contest 10/07/2011

Today I received an E-mail from a person from the AV fair.  They were asking me to make some salsa for a contest.

There are four categories.  Red.  Green.  Pico de gallo.  Mango or other fruit.  I am wondering which one I should make.  I can only enter one.

BFF is a salsa-holic.  She drinks salsa!  Well, she drinks my salsa.  Maybe I should ask her.

You see...I take this as a 'sign' that it is what I am supposed to do.  You know...'show me the next right action and give me the eyes to see it'

It happens at the Rodeo on Sunday the 16th of October.  Should be around the end of my tomatoes.  'Cause you know...vine-ripened tomatoes will make the best salsa.

Wish me luck.

Marvelous! 05/25/2011

Today, I went out to water my garden, and I saw dirt cracking all over the place.

Here is another spot of cracked dirt.  Only this one you can see the sprout if you look inside.  Squash, I believe.  Zucchini, I hope.

You are looking at okra.  Farmer J and his family LOVE okra.
Picture
I know it is okra because of the seed hull on the tallest plant.  I am afraid to pick it off.  I don't want to damage the leaves.

Can't you hear the choir of Angels singing!?!  "Ahhhhhh....men!"  I LOVE tomatoes...straight...from...the...garden!  Beefsteak.

Anahiem chili.  For Farmer J.

Looks like another tomato to me (right in the center).  I have to say that today is a very good day.  I am so blessed to be able to see the progress of my hard work.  And...of the hard work of the people who love me.

I can see my 'dream' is growing legs.  Will it walk?  Will it run?  I guess it really doesn't matter, because I am riding this pony to the end, whatever that entails.

So I rejoice in the moment.  I can see tomato preserves, pickled peppers, ham and beans, pesto, salsa, gumbo, I could go on forever.  What I am really looking forward to is enough zucchini to fund my bread needs.

In a few weeks, my garden will be looking so much different, but for today...it looks marvelous!
