From The Corners 06/17/2011
I went out to the garden, just now, and took these pictures just for you. The next four photos are taken at most of the corners, going clockwise. This is the Northeast corner. The Southeast corner. The Southwest corner. Then...not quite the Northwest corner. But you get the point. I am pretty proud. It's starting to look like a real garden. These are my potatoes. Yukon gold close up, and russets on the other end. This row is mostly beets, and I forget what else. I am tired. Plus, I still have more work to do. As you can see, I need to water. It was hot here today, and babies need more water. Beans and purslane. Chards, lettuce, Bok Choi, radishes...and some other stuff. It won't be long and I will be getting veggies! I am so excited! ******************************************************************************* 1 Comment THINGS IN MY YARD AND OTHER STORIES 11/09/2010
I found this in the yard this morning. See the big unhappy mouth? That is where I stuck my finger in it to see what it was. I believe it was a pile of frost/ice/snow...whatever! I looked around and it was the only pile I found. Isn't that peculiar? Exactly why I had to document it. Then there is this rose. When I look at the center of it...I see a heart. To me that is very special, since my birthday is Valentine's Day. I once rented a house JUST because it had heart shutters. The guy who owned it had been begging me to move in and I kept saying no. He said "Just go look at it". When I pulled up and saw the shutters I knew I had to move. Here you see my artichoke. This had seemed dead. Now it is growing again. Plus...a friend came over and collected the seeds out of the dead head and we planted all six of them. So...hopefully I will get a lot more artichokes next year. My lettuce seems to be doing quite well. It won't be long and I will be eating the red lettuce. Then the romaine and butter crunch. I guess I need to ask Santa for a greenhouse. Or at least a cold frame. That way I can grow all year long AND not worry about frost. It is well into my 'busy' season...baking for the holidays, and canning for gifts. Plus...I started a new 'project' that has been taking a bit of time. I am not ready to 'share' it yet, but it explains my absence, lately. Some of you got worried and I am still hearing about it. Thanks for worrying. Sorry for making you worry. I am making a transition of sorts. When I do that, it usually takes me a while to find my stride again. Now that I am older...it takes a bit longer than it used to take. I am sure there are some of you who can relate. All this sounds like excuses, so know I am stopping now. On another note...Sis will be here next week. Whoo hoo!!! Just in time to help! Plus...we get to go play in the desert. We will have bunches of fun, too. I feel like...'My futures so bright, I have to wear shades!' I could get used to this. ******************************************************************************* |
