IT BEGINS! 10/11/2010

My first delivery of pomegranates.  My neighbor said he will be back with more.  I believe him.  I also know...there WILL be others.

You see...it takes a LOT of work to extract the wonderful juice from these babies.  I like to incorporate The Lad's help.  He is so tall that he can push down on the handle of the juicer.  When I do it, I have to hang.  Not quite as effective.  Plus, I have lost a lot of weight since the last time I did it.  Does that equate into more 'hang' time?

I also wanted to show you the 'results' of our filming yesterday.  Eight loaves of 'fully loaded' wonderful bread.  All 'infused' with dreams of winning a chance to show what I can do.  There will be more bread today.

I have to say, I took the advice of a friend on what to 'do' for the filming.  She said the bread.  She was right.  I have made at least a 1000 loaves over the years, and was very comfortable in front of the camera making it.  At least it felt that way, I haven't seen the footage yet.

We will be filming most of this week, partly for The Food Network, and partly for here/You-tube.  I will be giving cooking tips, gardening tips, and whatever else I hope you might find interesting or useful.

Or funny.  I enjoy making people laugh.  It is a family tradition.  Plus...I have been professionally trained.  I took some comedy improve classes and acting classes at Van Mar Academy, in the Valley, down below.  Not to mention the play reading classes at A.V. College.

Then, uniquely on the other side...The Lad played Jem in To Kill A Mockingbird when he was ten at the Palmdale Playhouse.  I got to take him to play practice several times a week, help him practice at home...for months.  They did 6 shows and I have it all recorded on tape.  AND I saved all the paper clippings in a book.  I wasn't proud or anything.

Anyway...with the arrival of my first pomegranates, and the Duck Races, it starts my busy season.  I have been told, my pies are now a family tradition.  That's two 'traditions' in one post.

I do have to say thank you to The Lad.  He KNOWS me the best.  He can get me to be comfortable in front of the camera.  Give me confidence to do my best.  He is my Biggest fan.
